Use

In what ways does your media product use forms and conventions of real media products?

The Title

Conventionally a trailer includes a title, this is shared throughout the advertising campaign. The title is usually in a distinct font from the rest of the text in the trailer and/or marketing campaign which you can see being chosen and developed on to the right, in the evidence section, by clicking the button labeled 'Titles Research & Design' & 'Titles & After Effects'. We have used this convention as, not only it is a convention but it is expected of a trailer to contain information on how to see the film - which includes telling the audience what the movie is called.

Evidence

Soundtrack

Our trailer uses the soundtrack to create suspense and draw the audience in. The audience normally doesn't pay much attention to the soundtrack for a trailer, unless it utilises a common piece of music (for example: the Suicide Squad trailer uses Bohemian Rhapsody) however that doesn't mean it is any less important for making an effective trailer.

A trailer that influenced our use of sudden builds during parts of our trailer came from the It (2017) trailer, see to the left.

Thriller Editing

Our trailer uses editing conventions from the thriller genre, specifically there is a section of our final product where the audio and the video cut in and out repeatedly while the audio gets louder. This can be seen in some of the trailers that we analysed and clearly illustrated in the clip to the right.
