Target Audience

Too obtain our audience feedback we created a target audience profile, this helped us focus on who we wanted to get feedback from.

Because I aimed at people who were around 20 years old I had to ask people who were not taking this course - which is a positive as they didn't know the course specification and so gave their actual opinions rather than what they thought we needed/wanted to hear.

Surveys

We learnt from our audience by making surveys. The biggest point of contact with our audience feedback was the rough cut feedback. We took the answers and implemented the majority of the expectations and improvements suggested by our audience.

What I Learnt

The first answer in the rough cut feedback that I was surprised by was that a majority (70%) of people thought that the opening credits with movie titles were ineffective - we corrected this first, seen to the right. This was the first thing that I learnt from audience feedback, the fact that credits stand out and look obtuse when they don't fit.

The second piece of important information that I found was that most people surveyed (40%) wanted to see the actor's names credited out of the options given. We hadn't included this in the rush that we showed them and so we added this into our trailer.

Additional Information

We also learnt that our target audience expected a suspenseful soundtrack (50% of answers), which we fulfilled later in our final cut with suspense builds and climaxes using drum hits reversed to make the builds and a quickening, layer building soundtrack.

60% of people thought the rush explained the plot, but that left 40% of people still needing more plot - to inform their decision to go and see the movie so we included more information in our final version of the trailer.

The most important piece of information that I learnt from our audience feedback was that the audience know what they want & what they want usually results in a pleasurable viewing experience.
